History/Background:
Bill Shelander has been an active cross-border venture investor since 1986. He is currently a managing director of Pac-Link Management Corp., and serves on the boards of Wavesat, CrossFiber, GlobalLocate and BrightPlanet. In 1997 he became chairman and CEO of Micronics Computers (NASDAQ: MCRN) ¡V acquired by Diamond Multimedia in 1998. Previously he was co-president of JAFCO America Ventures Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Japan Associated Finance Company (a publicly listed company in Japan and an affiliate of Nomura Securities). He managed three funds formed between 1985 and 1995. His U.S. team invested $80 million in thirty-seven high technology companies, including Advanced Fibre Communications, C-Cube, Ciena, Com21, Etec, MMC Networks, Meta Tools, NeoMagic, Novellus, Nvidia, Spectriam, Teleos, TriQuint, Tivoli Systems and Wireless Access. Over his ten-year tenure with JAFCO, the U.S. portfolio IRR exceeded 60% generating returns valued in excess of $600 million. Previously, he was national product manager at Liquid Air Corporation and a systems engineer for Union Carbide.
Mr. Shelander earned a BS in Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an MSE in Chemical Engineering from the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies, and an MBA from Stanford University. |
